This unique collection of about 2,500 books
on India covers the period from the 17th century to 1947. The
Collection includes translations of original Parsian works relating
to Moghul history and British works on Indian history, archaeology,
philosophy, religion, customs and folklore and the arts and
sciences, biography and literature.The sections on Biological
Sciences depict epic contributions of British scientists, doctors
and naturalists who recorded for the first time the different
species of the Indian flora and faune. " The India Collection"
is owned by the British Council and is housed in the
